Hearth at Burroughs Street

27 Burroughs Street, Jamaica PlainOpened in December 2006, Hearth’s newest residence, is a 16-unit Victorian house located on a quiet residential street in Jamaica Plain.  Elders live in a congregate-style community complete with Heath’s trademark support services.

The house contains several common areas, including a kitchen, a dining room, and a living room.

These common rooms provide an opportunity to socialize and foster a sense of community among the residents. A recently installed elevator and wheelchair ramp provides access for elders with limited mobility.

The large front porch overlooks the landscaped yard and the surrounding elegantly maintained homes, while the rear deck is shaded by stately trees.

Thank you, Volunteers!

It took many helping hands to ready the home for the new residents. Over 100 volunteers demolished, cleaned, painted, and decorated the rooms in the house.  Other individuals, families, and organizations participated in the Adopt-A-Room Program at Burroughs Street, transforming the house into a home, one room at a time.
