In 1991, these seven professional women with diverse experience in housing, finance, health, human services, and administration, volunteered to form a committee to address the then largerly unrecognized problem of elder homelessness in Boston.
"We got tired of going to conferences and talking about the problem of frail elders who don't have places to live," Bissonnette told The Boston Sunday Globe in 1991. "We felt that it was time to do something about it."
Together, the committee provided the leadership for a coalition of public and private agencies working collaboratively to eliminate elder homelessness in Boston by creating permanent housing withs supportive servcies for homeless elders.
