Adopt-A-Room
New residents of Hearth housing have been surviving on precious little, either in shelters or perhaps even the streets. As you can imagine, these frail elders enter their new homes with few furnishings or personal effects. Each time Hearth opens a new home, all of the bedrooms or apartments (depending on the style of the residence) need to be decorated and furnished for the new tenants. We offer a practical and uniquely rewarding opportunity to welcome Hearth's newest clients and help them settle into their new home.
The Adopt-A-Room program allows our friends to transform the house into a real home, one room at a time. There are a variety of ways for a business, organization, family, or an individual to participate:
- Purchase the furnishings for one apartment and personally arrange them in your adopted room (with the help of co-workers, family or friends) to create a welcoming home. This is our most popular option because participants get to choose the furnishings at the store and then decorate the room as they see fit. It makes for a fantastic day of volunteering where you can really see how you’ve touched the lives of our elders!
- Contribute a financial gift to cover the cost of one room, allow Hearth to secure the items from the store and bring them to the residence, and then decorate the room yourself.
- Contribute a financial gift of:
- $400 to cover the cost of the furnishings for one apartment
- $2,400 to cover the cost of the furnishings plus the large furniture for one apartment.
- your choice to cover specific items that you choose for a room.
