2006: Ellen Feingold Challenge

In September of 2006, Hearth Founder and Board Member Ellen Feingold presented us with a challenge. She agreed to match incoming donations made before December 15, 2006 dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.

We did it!  Thanks to generous donations by Wainwright Bank and others, we not only met the goal - we exceeded it!

The Challenge

Ellen is so proud of Hearth’s accomplishments since its humble beginnings in 1992. Over 800 elders now have safe, permanent housing, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Hearth community. Hearth received national recognition of its achievements earlier this spring when the National Alliance to End Homelessness presented us with the 2006 Leadership Award at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Like everyone at Hearth, Ellen was extremely proud. Ellen’s $10,000 challenge gift is her celebration of how far Hearth has come since its founding.
