Hearth - Ending Elder Homelessness

In-Kind Donations

In-kind donations of needed items are a great way to help Hearth's elders feel at home and to help our organization run more efficiently.  If you would like to make a donation of an in-kind gift, please contact Jennifer Hartwell at 617-369-1565 in our Institutional Advancement Department.

Wish List:

Hearth's Wish ListGames: The residents of Burroughs Street are interested in playing Scrabble and Scattergories. Jigsaw puzzles are also popular with our elders.

Office Furniture: Is your business renovating or moving? Desks, chairs, filing cabinets, and cubical partitions are helpful donations.

TV and DVD Player/VCR: Weekly movies are a popular activity at all of Hearth's residences. We are in need of a 32" TV (approx.) and a DVD Player and VCR.

Continuously Needed Items:

Movie Passes: Going to a movie is a treat few of our elders can afford. In addition to providing entertainment, a pass to a movie theater gives homeless elders a temporary reprieve from cold winter days or scorching summer heat
Taxi Vouchers and MBTA Charlie Tickets or Cards: Outreach clients need to be able to get to doctor's appointments and housing interviews. Missed appointments and interviews can add months to the housing-search process.
Gift Cards to restaurants, grocery stores, or pharmacies (such as Walgreens or CVS)
Phone cards
Inflatable air mattresses: Sometimes our Outreach clients move into their new homes before they even have a bed to sleep on.  Inflatable air mattresses that we could lend to our clients would be greatly appreciated.
Personal Care Items: Outreach clients are very grateful for gifts of full-sized toiletry items such as shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and soap.
Bingo Prizes: Residents at ABH, Ruggles, and Uphams Corner enjoy weekly bingo games. Donations of small, inexpensive items suitable for men and women (coffee mugs, basic cleaning supplies, and toiletries are always big hits!) are always needed.
Please note: We cannot accept unsolicited donations of clothing and houseware items at this time due to lack of storage space.

Outreach Food Pantry

We also need your help to keep our small food pantry well-stocked for our elderly Outreach clients. Please ask us what we are in most need of. This ensures that your donation will target the needs of our elders - and have the greatest impact!
