Volunteer Opportunities: Activities & Ideas

Hearth residents love having volunteers do new and different activities, and Hearth staff appreciate new ideas and suggestions. The following is our "calendar" of general ideas for volunteer positions and activities. If you have an idea we haven't thought of, let us know!
 

Year-Round Activities

Spring Projects

  • Indoor Spring Cleaning

    Spruce up the residences and celebrate spring
  • Outdoor Garden Clean-Up and Planting

    Clean up the flower beds around our sites and plant flowers
  • Easter/Passover Celebrations

    Cook and serve a special meal or lead a related activity
  • Memorial Day-related activities

    Our elders love a good cook-out!
  • Outreach's Spring Fling Event

    Help the Outreach Team throw a party, celebrating Outreach clients' successes

Summer Projects

  • Garden maintenance

    Keep the weeds at bay and the gardens looking great
  • Celebrating July 4th

    Another great opportunity to have a cook-out

Autumn Activities

  • Fall Garden Clean-Up

    Prepare the flower beds for the cold, snowy winter
  • Celebrate Halloween

    Lead a Halloween-inspired arts 'n crafts project or watch a scary movie
  • Celebrate Thanksgiving

    Cook and serve Thanksgiving dinner or lead a related activity

Winter Activities

  • Celebrate the Winter Holidays

    Bring good will and cheer to Hearth's residents
  • Fight off the Winter Duldrums

    January, February, and March are great times to lead indoor activities, like bingo or other games.
